1. About this policy

Hartley Salt must comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), the country’s first comprehensive federal law on data privacy which came into effect in 2022. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to explain:

  2. how Hartley Salt Trading FZE collects and holds personal information;

  2. Suppliers / Service providers
    Hartley Salt collects information from you which is necessary to properly operate its business. This includes collecting personal information such as your name, address, email address, telephone, fax numbers, ABN and professional experience and expertise, and any other information which may be necessary to appropriately conduct its business.
  3. Credit applicants and their guarantors
    Hartley Salt collects information from you which is necessary to provide you (or the relevant credit applicant) with a credit facility in connection with the supply of goods and services to you (or the relevant credit applicant). This includes collecting personal information such as your name, address, date of birth, drivers license number, email address, telephone and fax numbers, trade references, and any other information which is necessary to assist Hartley Salt assess your (or the relevant credit applicant’s) eligibility for credit, manage your (or the relevant credit applicant’s) credit account and assess your (or the relevant credit applicant’s) ongoing credit-worthiness.
  4. Job applicants
    Hartley Salt collects information from you which is necessary to assess and engage employment applicants. This includes collecting personal information such as your name, address, professional experience, qualifications, references, past employers, medical information, and any other information which is necessary to assist Hartley Salt assess your suitability for employment.

3.2. How we collect personal information

Hartley Salt will usually collect your personal information directly from you, either face to face, over the telephone, via post, fax or email or over the internet. From time to time, Hartley Salt may also collect personal information from third parties, such as:

  1. past employees, referees and recruitment consultants;
  2. related entities (being those listed in the schedule); and
  3. health service providers.

3.4. Complete and accurate details

Where possible and practicable, you will have the option to deal with Hartley Salt on an anonymous basis or by using a pseudonym. However, if the personal information you provide us is incomplete or inaccurate, or you withhold personal information, we may not be able to provide the goods and services or support to you are seeking, or deal with you or your application effectively.

4. Disclosing your personal information

Hartley Salt will confine its disclosure of your personal information to the primary purpose for which that information has been collected, or for a related secondary purpose. This includes when disclosure is necessary to provide services to you, assist us in running our organisation, or for security reasons.

All your personal information is stored securely by Hartley Salt or third party storage providers, (including those operating in MENA & GCC Regions) in either hard copy or electronic form.

Hartley Salt strives to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information, and will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Hartley Salt reviews and updates (where necessary) its security measures in light of current technologies.

5.4. Online transfer of information

While Hartley Salt does all it can to protect the privacy of your personal information, no data transfer over the internet is 100% secure. When you share your personal information with Hartley Salt via an online process, it is at your own risk.

There are ways you can help maintain the privacy of your personal information, including:
